ABOUT US

"VEGANISM is a way of living which seeks to exclude, as far as is possible and practicable, all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose."

WHO WE ARE

We are a bunch of eager Cambridge students trying to make a difference. We speak up for the animals who suffer at the hands of the animal agriculture industries, as well for our Earth, which is also a victim of the aforementioned industries.

We're doing our bit to continue the momentum of the vegan movement - we run events throughout the year for vegans and non-vegans alike, run campaigns, and offer support and guidance for those wanting to make a change in their lives. Everyone is welcome at our events: read on to find out more about what we do!

WHAT WE DO

We run different kinds of events throughout the year, catering to people who want to socialise with other vegans, those who want to learn more about veganism, and those who want to get involved in activism.

POTLUCKS

We have potlucks around twice per term, usually held in the Jesus College JCR, or outside. Come along, and remember to bring along some vegan food (cooked, store-bought - whatever suits you!) - and then eat, drink, and chat.

In an effort to reduce the waste generated at these events, we ask that you bring your own cutlery, but we will have some spare if you don't! We also provide compostable plates for you to use.

VEGAN INTRO MEETINGS

Our "Intro Meetings" are designed for those who are new to veganism and/or wanting to find out more and get advice. We invite non-vegans, new vegans, and vegan veterans to come and share their questions and experiences. These meetings usually occur near the beginning of term, and during Veganuary.

FILM SCREENINGS

An important part of activism is getting people informed, because many are simply unaware of the reality of the consequences of their food choices. One way that we try to inform people is by hosting film screenings - usually of documentaries, but we are also looking at different films to broadcast. All are welcome - there will usually be nibbles to eat, so don't miss out!

TALKS AND DEBATES

We aim to hold a variety of talks and debates through the year, inviting guest speakers to come along and discuss several topics relevant to veganism, including ethics, environment and health. Over the years, we've had many exciting speakers' events, including a recent discussion with academic Gary Francione, and an interesting chat with social psychologist Melanie Joy. These talks, and more, can be found on our Facebook page.
